Andrew Smith – Director of Study

As Director of Study, Andy has the responsibility of the successful managing and running of the course. Andy trained at Blackpool College of Art, Sheffield City Polytechnic and Canterbury Christchurch University. He is an experienced tutor and has taught extensively in Colleges, Art Schools and Universities in the UK and abroad, including the University for Creative Arts, Ravensbourne, The Slade, The Royal College of Art, Northumbria University. He is an external moderator for the University of the Arts London Awarding Body and an Assessment Associate for NCFE. Andy is a practising artist who exhibits regularly both Nationally and Internationally.

 

Aimee Mclachlan – Pathway Leader for Fashion and Textiles.

Aimee trained at Southampton University, University of the Arts London (Central St Martins) and Goldsmiths University. She is an experienced teacher and has taught at the University of Kingston, the University for the Creative Arts, South Essex College and MIT Institute of Design in Pune, India. She works as an external moderator for the University of the Arts Awarding Body. Aimee continues to work in the Fashion industry and has worked for the design studio Coppernob and retail brands Red or Dead and Duck for Cover. Her fashion illustration work has been commissioned for publication in magazines including, Elle, Rank, The Idler, N.M.E. and Loaded. Aimee’s other design and styling work includes designing and making costumes for the Girls Aloud ‘Chemistry’ tour and as the maker/seamstress for costumes on Kylie Minougues ‘Showgirl’ tour.

 

Edward Jeavons – Pathway Leader for Fine Art

Edward studied at Leeds Metropolitan University, Chelsea College of Art and the University of Greenwich. He has taught at the University of South Wales, City Lit, Huanghuai University in China and is Lecturer in Drawing at Nottingham Trent University on the short course programmes. He is also an external examiner for Visual Arts for the International Baccalaureate. Edward continues to practice as an artist and exhibits in the UK and abroad.

 

Paul Russell – Pathway Leader for 3D Design

Paul trained as a 3D Designer at the University of Wolverhampton and Aston University and gained teaching accreditation at the University of Huddersfield. He has taught in the design departments at the University of Huddersfield, Coventry University and Buckinghamshire New University. Paul continues to undertake research and practice in the fields of Product Design, Industrial Design and Design Engineering.  Paul's interests in 3D Design include Computer-Aided Design, Digital Visualisation, Digital Fabrication, Design Psychology and Emotional Design, and sustainable design practice.

 

Neil Wainwright – Pathway Leader for Graphic Design and Illustration.

Neil is a practising Illustrator and teacher. He trained at the University of Loughborough in the UK and has taught at MidKent College. He is also an External moderator for the University of the Arts London Awarding Body. Neil continues to work as a freelance Illustrator and Designer and has worked with clients including The Sunday Times, The Guardian, BBC Worldwide, The Bookseller and The Informa Group.

 

Stephen Lloyd – Pathway Leader for Photography.

Stephen studied at the Kent Institute of Art and Design from where he has degrees in both Fashion Design and Photography. His teaching experience is at MidKent College as subject leader for Photography. He has substantial professional experience working in camera departments as a digital imaging technician in the movie industry. Stephen has work on a range of films including Star Wars-Rouge One, Mary Poppins Returns, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Mission Impossible Rogue Nation and Spectre.

 

Leo Caroleo – Pathway Leader for Creative Media

Leo studied at The Kent Institute of Art and Design and Canterbury Christchurch University. As a Teacher Leo has taught at MidKent College and North West Kent College. His professional experience is substantial working in a variety of roles in the Post-production TV and Video Industries. He has worked on a range of productions from gameshows like Who Want to be a Millionaire, multi-camera music productions with Muse at Wembley and the Chemical Brothers and Calvin Harris in Trafalgar Square, animations from the Watership Down remake to Joko, Jakamoto, Toto. He has also worked on a range of light entertainment such as So Graham Norton, Derren Brown, BAFTA winning TV Burp, Eurotrash and many documentaries for the BBC and the discovery channel. Leo has worked with all the major channels nationally and internationally from post to delivery on an extensive and diverse portfolio providing hundreds of hours of televisual viewing.
